How to get to Alonissos
Alonissos has no airport. Arrive by ferry at Patitiri, the island’s main port, either from mainland Greece or via nearby Skiathos and Skopelos. Choose your travel dates first, then match the ferry with your flight or road transfer.
Fly into Skiathos Airport (JSI), transfer to Skiathos town’s ferry port and continue by ferry to Alonissos. Allow time for baggage collection, the airport transfer and the operator’s boarding deadline.
The airport lists a public bus connection to Skiathos town. Check the current service before relying on it. If your flight arrives after the last suitable ferry, plan an overnight stay on Skiathos.
Reach Volos on mainland Greece by road or intercity bus, then take a ferry to Alonissos. Services may call at Skiathos and Skopelos along the way. Match your mainland arrival to the departure shown for your actual travel date.
If bringing a car, select a sailing that accepts vehicles and reserve the vehicle space as well as passenger tickets.
From Athens or elsewhere in central Greece, compare a road transfer to Mantoudi port on Evia with the Volos route. Check the available Mantoudi–Alonissos sailings before arranging your road journey.
Confirm the exact departure port, intermediate stops and whether your chosen vessel carries cars.
From Athens, compare a flight to Skiathos followed by a ferry with a road journey to Mantoudi or Volos. From Thessaloniki, compare travel via Volos with a direct seasonal ferry when one is offered.
Direct Thessaloniki sailings are seasonal: do not assume a previous summer’s timetable applies to your visit.
Alonissos can be combined with Skiathos or Skopelos. Check the exact Skopelos departure port printed on your ticket, since services can use different ports.
Compare the return sailing before planning a day trip; an overnight visit gives you more flexibility.
Share your ferry name and expected arrival time with your accommodation. Arrange a host pickup, taxi or rental collection as appropriate, and confirm any local bus timetable for your dates.
Check the route to your room if you have luggage or mobility needs: some properties involve steps or a steep walk.
Check the complete outward and return journey before paying for separate tickets.
Allow a generous connection margin; flights, ferries and road transfers may be delayed.
Confirm vehicle space, baggage, accessibility and pet arrangements with your operator.
Recheck the sailing close to departure, especially when weather conditions change.
For 2027 travel, wait for confirmed services for your dates; 2026 schedules are not a guarantee.

Use the municipality’s dated timetable for the current season. Check the departure stop and return service. The published guidance says tickets are bought before boarding; confirm the current sales points.
Taxi Alonissos “Spiros” publishes +30 697 888 1360. Arrange pickup time and location and ask the fare before travelling. Other drivers are listed in the municipal directory.
Follow local signs and use designated parking. Ask your host about the closest legal parking and any steps between the vehicle and your accommodation. Keep narrow lanes and emergency access clear.
Confirm departure harbour, weather policy and return arrangements with the operator. A boat trip does not guarantee access to every beach or protected area.

Visit Greece highlights Chrisi Milia for families and groups. Check current beach services, access and sea conditions; children still need close supervision.
Combine a beach visit with nearby dining at Dolopes or Eleonas. Ask the venues about seasonal service, sunbeds, toilets and access before relying on them.
Ask about natural shade, umbrellas, toilets, refreshments and the distance from parking. Pebbles, steps and uneven ground can change what is practical for your group.

Patitiri is a useful starting point for everyday services and ATMs. Check withdrawal fees on screen and confirm card acceptance with individual businesses. Carry a modest cash backup.
Buy water, picnic supplies and essentials before heading to a quieter part of the island. IKION in Steni Vala describes an on-site grocery; check its opening hours directly.
Ask hotels and operators specific questions: step-free entrance, stairs, doorway widths, bathroom layout, transfer vehicles and beach surfaces. Request recent photos where helpful; accessibility has not been independently audited here.
Restaurants, shops, boat trips and accommodation can operate seasonally. Confirm directly for spring, autumn and winter visits instead of relying on a summer listing.
Keep your accommodation address, an offline map, water and a charged phone with you. Check local weather and official notices when planning a walk or sea excursion.

A home-kitchen adaptation of a dish associated with Alonissos, using cooked lobster meat for simpler preparation.
Ingredients & method
Ingredients
400 g cooked lobster meat, removed from the shell
320 g spaghetti
500 g chopped tomatoes
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
3 tbsp olive oil
100 ml dry white wine, or water
2 tbsp chopped parsley
Black pepper, salt and optional chilli flakes
Warm the olive oil in a wide pan. Cook the onion gently for 5–7 minutes, then add garlic and optional chilli for 30 seconds.
Add the wine or water and simmer for 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and simmer gently for 15–20 minutes, adding a splash of water if needed.
Cook spaghetti according to the packet until al dente. Reserve a mug of pasta water before draining.
Cut the cooked lobster into generous pieces. Add it to the sauce for the final few minutes, until hot throughout; avoid prolonged cooking.
Toss in the spaghetti with a little pasta water to coat evenly. Finish with parsley and pepper, taste for salt and serve immediately.
Contains crustaceans and wheat; wine may contain sulphites. Keep cooked lobster refrigerated until needed and follow its supplier’s storage instructions. Preparation time excludes cooking a whole lobster.
An oven-baked shortcut inspired by the island’s cheese pies, using ready-made filo.
Ingredients & method
Ingredients
6 large filo sheets, thawed if frozen
300 g crumbled feta
100 g ricotta
1 beaten egg
4 tbsp olive oil, plus a little for the tin
Black pepper
Heat the oven to 180°C conventional. Lightly oil a 24–26 cm round tin. Mix feta, ricotta, egg and pepper.
Keep unused filo covered with a slightly damp cloth. Brush one sheet with oil, place a second on top and brush lightly.
Spread a third of the filling along a long edge, roll loosely and coil in the centre of the tin. Repeat with the remaining sheets and filling, extending the spiral.
Brush with the remaining oil and bake for 35–40 minutes, until crisp, golden and hot through. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Contains wheat, milk and egg.

Guided snorkelling
Ask about a supervised outing suited to your swimming ability and confidence. Discuss equipment, entry and exit arrangements, group size and the day’s conditions before deciding.
An introduction to diving
If you are new to scuba, ask a qualified instructor about an appropriate introductory programme, its eligibility requirements and the training involved. This section is inspiration, not dive instruction.
For certified divers
Share your certification and recent experience with the operator. Ask which sites are suitable and permitted, what equipment is included and how the dive is supervised.
Underwater photography
Discuss photography with your guide before the outing. Keep attention on the dive or snorkelling plan, give wildlife space and leave marine life and objects undisturbed.
A shared celebration
Combine an operator-approved symbolic underwater moment with a wedding celebration ashore. Plan a welcoming alternative for guests who do not enter the water.
Keep the experience optional. Arrange a comfortable shore-based meeting place and a flexible meal afterwards so companions can enjoy the day at their own pace.
Before you arrange your experience
Ask about participant requirements, professional supervision, insurance, emergency arrangements, equipment, permissions and cancellation terms. Let the operator determine suitability and conditions; never assume that a protected area is open for diving.
Editorial ideas only. No operator, price, departure or bookable package is confirmed here. The photograph shows the Peristera wreck. Access and participant requirements must be confirmed with an authorised dive operator; it is not an introductory-diving or snorkelling location recommendation.

Plan a celebration around the people, places and moments that matter to you. These checklists help you prepare enquiries; confirm availability, accessibility, prices and terms directly with each provider.
Ceremony & reception venues
Ask about capacity, step-free access, toilets, power, sound restrictions, setup time and an indoor weather alternative. Confirm what is included in the hire.
Wedding planners & suppliers
Request a written scope, named day-of coordinator, payment schedule and cancellation terms. Keep supplier contacts and arrival times together.
Photography & videography
Discuss coverage hours, group photographs, image delivery, usage permission and a backup plan. Ask before arranging photography at private locations.
Flowers, styling & décor
Agree the palette, seasonal substitutions, installation and collection times. Check venue rules for candles, confetti and decorations.
Food, cakes & catering
Collect dietary requirements and ask caterers how they manage allergens. Confirm menu, drinks, service, equipment and final guest-count deadlines.
Guest accommodation & transport
Share a range of accommodation options and confirmed travel information. Ask about group transfers, luggage and accessibility; allow time between connections.
Honeymoons & romantic stays
Leave a restful day after the celebration. Choose your base around privacy, access and the outings you most want to enjoy.
Choose a setting that suits your group and obtain permission where needed. Confirm whether your ceremony is symbolic or requires formal arrangements with the relevant authority.
An island celebration
Your Alonissos wedding experience
Imagine a welcome meal with your closest people, a celebration shaped around your story and a gentle day together afterwards. Use this flexible three-part plan to brief your venue or coordinator.

Before · A warm island welcome
Let guests settle into their accommodation before gathering for an informal meal. Share the next day’s meeting point, transport arrangements and a contact person so everyone can relax.
Plan: a convenient meeting place, dietary needs, a flexible arrival window and a comfortable return.
The day · Make room for the moment
Build the day around your ceremony and the people you want beside you. Leave breathing space for photographs, refreshments and travel between locations, then enjoy dinner and your celebration.
Plan: venue permission, ceremony arrangements, guest access, shade, music rules and a sheltered alternative.
After · Stay a little longer
Meet for a late breakfast or a relaxed village stroll. Guests who prefer quiet time can choose their own beach or café stop; keep activities optional and easy to join.
Plan: luggage storage, departure transfers and a simple meeting point for anyone staying on.

Make the experience yours
Choose the pace, guest count and moments that matter to you. Send your coordinator a short brief covering your preferred dates, budget range, accessibility requirements and weather backup. Confirm every venue and service directly.
This is an editorial planning idea, not a bookable package. The photographs show Alonissos landscapes, not confirmed wedding venues or a photographed wedding.
Imagine marking your commitment with a symbolic underwater moment, followed by a celebration ashore with the people you love. This is an idea to discuss with a qualified diving operator; no underwater wedding service or dive site has been confirmed.

Your symbolic moment
Discuss a simple underwater photograph or symbolic gesture with your dive professional. Hold spoken vows and any formal ceremony ashore, and confirm marriage formalities separately with the relevant authority.
Professional dive planning
Ask a qualified, insured operator to assess each participant’s experience, suitability and any required clearance. The operator must decide whether the activity, location and conditions are appropriate and arrange supervision and emergency support.
Bring every guest into the day
Give non-diving guests an enjoyable shore-based celebration. Discuss how approved photographs or video could be shared afterwards, and keep a complete land-based alternative if the dive cannot proceed.
Questions for your coordinator and dive operator
Do you actually offer this type of symbolic experience, and what training or eligibility is required?
Which locations and photography activities are permitted, and who confirms the necessary approvals?
How are supervision, guest arrangements, insurance and cancellations handled?
Can the photographer work within the dive plan without distracting participants?
What is the alternative if conditions or individual suitability prevent the dive?
Keep diving equipment and communication unobstructed. Avoid loose clothing, props and decorations that could snag or affect marine life; any item taken into the water must be approved by the operator. Never remove breathing equipment for a photograph or ceremony.
The panorama illustrates the island’s marine setting. It does not show a wedding, advertise a package or establish permission to dive in a protected area.
Start: agree a budget, guest estimate and preferred dates; enquire about venues and travel. After booking: confirm suppliers and guest arrangements. Before travel: reconfirm schedules, outstanding payments and the weather backup. Celebration week: share the final running order and emergency contacts with your coordinator.
Budget worksheet
Record a planned amount, quoted amount, deposit, balance and due date for each item: venue, catering, accommodation, transport, photography, flowers, clothing, stationery and coordination. Keep a separate contingency amount. Confirm currency, taxes and what each quote includes.
Guest checklist
Track invitations, replies, dietary needs, accommodation choices and transport requirements. Share essential arrangements privately and only with those who need them.
Supplier enquiry checklist
Include your preferred date, guest count, venue, requested services and budget range. Ask for availability, a detailed quote, cancellation terms and the next decision deadline.
Weather backup plan
Agree a sheltered alternative, the person who makes the decision, the decision time and how guests will be informed. Check that the alternative has suitable capacity and access.
